Pedro B. Hidalgo
1910 - 2001

"The Old Man," Apo Pedro, closed his eyes peacefully on the laps of my sister, Norma. With his last strength, he waved his right hand saying goodbye to everyone, and God took him away.

He saved all his strength hoping all his children will be home. He faintly nodded his head for an affirmative answer, giving just a very slim chance that he will make it to the next minute. "Dad, please wait for my brothers before you go," my sister asked him. A very faint sign from him is unpromising.

He had his last spoon of liquid. He was lying in bed as my sister cleaned him up. She reached his right hand, hanging out from his bed. A few breaths ... he was gone so peacefully, naturally, no pain and no struggle ... A natural detachment from the mundane world ...

At the age of 92, November 21, 2001, the Oldest Man of the Village, surrendered to the living and joins immortality. SunShine Village has stories to tell about this "Old Man". No one in the village will ever forget this Old Man's virtues - Honesty, Patience, Righteousness, Dedication and Humility.
